In Gaza, cash is no longer king.Salaries and aid arrive through banking and wallet apps, but there’s no cash in banks.To withdraw money, citizens rely on merchants who charge exploitative commissions, sometimes 40% or more.Even when cash is obtained, it’s often worn or torn and refused by vendors.
In other words, people lose nearly half their money just to hold it, and some of it can’t even be used for purchases.In this reality, returning to traditional bartering, trading goods and skills directly, gives power back to citizens and removes the grip of exploitative middlemen.Badilni is a lightweight, humanitarian platform that makes local bartering safe, simple, and accessible, even with limited internet.
